Mike Maez is a Los Angeles–based automotive photographer and producer known for creating precise, cinematic imagery of rare, high-performance, and collectible cars.
I developed a bold visual identity built to complement his photography without competing with it. The system centers on a custom monogram that works as both a professional signature and a recognizable mark across digital, print, apparel, and production equipment.

Context
Mike needed an identity that reflected the quality and confidence of his work while remaining practical for the many environments in which an automotive photographer operates.
The mark needed to function discreetly as a watermark, make a stronger statement on client-facing materials, and remain recognizable on apparel and equipment in the field. It also had to feel rooted in automotive culture without relying on familiar camera or racing imagery.
Approach
I created a continuous-line monogram from Mike’s initials, using repetition and forward movement to give the mark a sense of speed, rhythm, and precision. Its open construction allows it to remain distinctive at both large and small scales.
A focused palette of bright orange, charcoal, and white brings energy and visibility to the system while allowing it to sit naturally alongside Mike’s photography. Multiple configurations were developed for different applications, including a standalone monogram, circular badge, and wordmark/logomark combination highlighting his name.
The identity can be extended across stickers, apparel, image watermarks, and animated digital applications, demonstrating how the system could shift between refined presentation and rugged field use.
Outcome
The finished identity gives Mike a consistent and memorable presence without overshadowing the work it represents. It can appear subtly within an image or expand into a bold graphic element across physical and digital touchpoints.
The result is a flexible personal brand that feels confident, modern, and connected to the automotive world while remaining distinctly his own.
